Pastor's Prayer ~ John 9

Valley of Vision
Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly,
Thou has brought me to the valley of vision,
where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights;
hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold
Thy glory.

Let me learn by paradox
that the way down is the way up,
that to be low is to be high,
that the broken heart is the healed heart,
that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit,
that the repenting soul is the victorious soul,
that to have nothing is to possess all,
that to bear the cross is to wear the crown,
that to give is to receive,
that the valley is the place of vision.

Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells,
deepest wells,
and the deeper the wells the brighter
Thy stars shine;

Let me find Thy light in my darkness,
Thy life in my death,
Thy joy in my sorrow,
Thy grace in my sin,
Thy riches in my poverty
Thy glory in my valley

Pastor's Prayer ~ Isaiah 47

Almighty God, Our Redeemer--the LORD of hosts is your name--you are the Holy One of Israel.  Lord we confess our amazing confidence in the impressive culture around us.  Its power, influence, allurement and preeminence is so convincing.  We often live as if these earthly systems and authorities will last forever.  Forgive us Lord.  Grant us faith in Christ and hope for your kingdom this morning that we be reminded again from your eternal Word that that world’s influence and power will pass away.  Our culture will come and go.  Our entertainment and gadgets will pass and be outdated in a few short months.  Lord, grant us repentance when we live for these things and place our confidence and trust in them.   Lord, redeem us by the power of your Spirit this morning and grant us eyes to see the joy, hope and treasure we have in the redemption you provide for us.  We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ who was slain & gave his life as a ransom for many.  Amen & Amen.

Pastor's Prayer ~ Isaiah 46

Almighty God, you alone are eternal, unchanging, immutable, all powerful, omniscient.  You are righteous and our God who is able to carry us, bear our burdens and save.  Lord, we confess our idols are numerous and they weary us so.  We daily rush around with great anxiety, fear and frustration seeking to keep our idols propped up.  Lord, we confess this as a personal offense to you the Creator and Maker of all things.  We confess our hearts are stubborn and relentless in the supporting and lugging around our self made objects of devotion, our idols.  Lord, they are only bringing pain, sorrow and struggle in our lives so this morning grant us faith and repentance through the your Spirit that we see our idols for what they really are and the turn to Christ are our only burden bearer.  For He alone can bear us up and keep us that we might find rest, joy, hope, peace and comfort in Him.  It is in His Name we pray these things,   Amen & Amen.
